Teaching approach and daily routine

The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requires us to create an educational program around the seven areas of learning; communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive art and design.

Our carefully planned sessions ensure all children are supported in all areas in their learning at an activity they enjoy.  We consider their individual needs, stage of development, and plan challenging and enjoyable experiences daily. Children learn by leading their own play and by taking part in play which is guided by adults.

Our daily routine, which is flexible

  • 7.30am Early start session. Breakfast is available from 7.30am (additional fees apply). Alternatively, parents may provide breakfast for their child to avoid additional charges. Children engage in calm play activities as they settle into the day.
  • 8.45am More children arrive. They are welcomed by their room staff. They choose what activity they would engaging with. We offer outside play in all weathers. A lot of our resources are ‘loose parts’ meaning they can be moved and used however children wish to play with them supporting them to develop their thinking skills as well as creativity.
  • During the morning staff support children’s learning in the area they choose to play such as the home corner, construction, mark making table, book area etc. All resources are available at child level to allow them to have access to all toys. Our child size toilets and low-level sink support children with their toileting and personal hygiene. Children move freely between activities.
  • Rolling Snack bar is available during the morning. the nursery can provide healthy snack at an additional cost to parents or this can be provided by parent/carer. Rolling snack bar allow children them to self-regulate their eating patterns. During snack they develop skills such as cutting fruit and pouring drinks while staff support. Snack time promotes healthy eating as fruit, milk and water is available daily as well as a carbohydrate food.
  • 12pm Children are encourage and guided to wash their hands and sit down for Lunch. We provide hot lunch for children at additional fees or parent to provide packed lunch
  • 12.30pm Some children goes home due to end of morning session
  • 1pm The afternoon session starts and follows a similar structure to the morning, with continued opportunities for play, learning, and outdoor access at designated times.
  • 3.15pm Hometime for some children. For those staying later, play and learning continue. A light tea is provided (additional fees apply), or parents may choose to provide this themselves.
  • For children staying till 6pm (Late session), They continue to engage in play and learning activities in a calm and relaxed environment until collection.
